new work and work in progress

The ten landscapes shown here are recent paintings of the area around the Gunflint Trail in northeastern Minnesota. They are on display at Sivertson Gallery in Grand Marais.

New Landscapes

Two New Series

The last two paintings below are the initial paintings in two new series. Both are large by my standards: 34x42. Coors 1123 begins a series of landscapes seen through a shed window or door. I am excited by the prospect of combining landscape and still life, inner and outer. This painting is part of a current exhibit at the Gallery at Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis. The second painting is the first in a series of five interpreting Pattiann Rogers‘ poem, “The Importance of the Whale in the Field of Iris.” The first two in the series are complete and part of the exhibit at Plymouth.
